BWTS Service Preparation: Job-Specific Consumable and Spare Kits
Updated
A job-specific kit links each consumable or spare to an identified service task. It should distinguish operating reagents, calibration references, maintenance components and contingency spares rather than treating them as one interchangeable supply category.

Key takeaways
- Task-to-material mapping
- Model, reference and quantity basis
- Validity, transport and receiving checks
- Consumption, unused stock and authorisation records
Map materials to tasks
List the instrument or component, procedure, required material and quantity basis. Identify model-specific tubing, seals, reagents or reference standards where applicable. A generic kit name does not establish that its contents match the vessel's actual analyser or the planned calibration method.
Check validity and handling
Record relevant expiry, batch identification, storage and transport requirements. Coordinate arrival with the attendance window and nominate the receiving party. Supplies that arrive without identification or under uncertain conditions may require review before use, even if their commercial delivery date was achieved.
Separate planned and contingency stock
Identify materials expected to be consumed and optional parts requiring authorisation. Record issued, installed, unused and returned items after attendance. This supports cost allocation and future maintenance planning without suggesting that all faults can be resolved by carrying a larger generic kit.
Illustrative procurement scenario
A prepared kit contains operating reagent and routine maintenance items, while the ordered calibration requires separately identified reference material. The task-to-material check catches the missing line before dispatch. The kit can then be completed for the actual method. Ordering more of the operating reagent would not resolve the omitted reference requirement.
Sea Clean service and quotation requirements
Sea Clean services all EC BWTS manufacturers and variants, including annual instrument calibration, calibration certificates, diagnostics and spare-parts support. Sea Clean is an authorised Headway agent; other manufacturers are serviced independently.
Include the following with the email request: Service task list, installed instruments, required materials and attendance date. Multiple vessels in the same area or along an efficient route can be assessed for shared mobilisation. Prices, component availability and attendance arrangements are stated in the quotation.

Frequently asked questions
Does a reagent kit include calibration standards?
Not automatically. Operating chemistry and reference materials have different functions and should appear as separate identified lines when both are required.
