BWTS Service Requests: The Technical Triage Dossier
Updated
A technical triage dossier gives the service team enough evidence to distinguish an instrument fault, process issue and operating-condition problem. It should describe the symptom and its context before proposing a replacement part or an attendance duration.

Key takeaways
- Exact alarms and original logs
- System and component identification
- Recent interventions and operating mode
- Required outcome and vessel window
Capture the observed condition
Record exact alarms, timestamps, operating mode, affected instruments and the sequence preceding the fault. Include relevant screen images and logs without replacing the original files. Distinguish an intermittent observation from a persistent fault and note whether the symptom occurs during uptake, treatment, discharge or standby.
Identify the installed equipment
Provide BWMS model, serial, current configuration and the affected component's own nameplate. Record recent maintenance, consumable changes and software or configuration interventions. Similar symptoms can have different causes; a system-brand name alone is not sufficient to select an analyser part, reference standard or service procedure.
Define the attendance objective
State whether the request concerns diagnosis, repair, calibration, consumable supply or a combination. Provide port, working window and available operating conditions. Sea Clean services all EC BWTS manufacturers and variants; the dossier determines the resources and work sequence rather than whether the brand appears in a directory.
Illustrative procurement scenario
A vessel reports unstable TRO and requests an immediate sensor replacement. The evidence dossier shows that the symptom occurs only during a particular operating transition. The service team can investigate the measurement chain and process context before finalising the parts order. The vessel's suspected cause remains recorded as a hypothesis rather than being silently converted into a confirmed defective component.
Sea Clean service and quotation requirements
Sea Clean services all EC BWTS manufacturers and variants, including annual instrument calibration, calibration certificates, diagnostics and spare-parts support. Sea Clean is an authorised Headway agent; other manufacturers are serviced independently.
Include the following with the email request: Fault chronology, original logs, nameplates, required outcome and port dates. Multiple vessels in the same area or along an efficient route can be assessed for shared mobilisation. Prices, component availability and attendance arrangements are stated in the quotation.

Frequently asked questions
Should the vessel order the suspected part before diagnosis?
Provide the suspected cause as a hypothesis, not a conclusion. The service and supply scope should distinguish diagnostic work from an authorised component order.
