CLX Reagent Fleet Orders: Vessel Allocation and Pack Quantities
Updated
A fleet reagent order should allocate each pack to a named analyser and vessel. Bulk purchasing is useful only when model compatibility, demand, expiry and delivery routing remain controlled at vessel level.

Key takeaways
- Vessel/analyser/reference allocation
- Current stock and demand basis
- Validity and activation distinctions
- Staged delivery and transfer records
Build the analyser allocation table
Record vessel/IMO, analyser model, reagent reference, installed quantity and current onboard stock. Separate instruments requiring different consumable types. A fleet's shared BWMS brand does not establish that all analysers consume the same reagent pack.
Plan consumption and validity
Use actual operating patterns and the applicable manual to assess demand. Distinguish unopened stock validity from activated reagent life and from commercial annual-supply estimates. Avoid distributing a large order solely by vessel count if the ships have materially different ballast operations or replenishment opportunities.
Control staged deliveries
Identify quantities, ports, agents and required dates for each shipment. Record substitutions, partial supplies and transfers between vessels. Coordinated procurement can reduce administration and unnecessary transport without converting unused stock into a guaranteed saving or extending reagent validity.
Illustrative procurement scenario
A consolidated shipment is intended for vessels with different analyser models and remaining stock. Allocation uses each model/reference and demand basis rather than an equal split. Pack components retain their identification through delivery. If a vessel's call changes, the proposed reallocation is checked technically before the material is assigned to another ship.
Sea Clean service and quotation requirements
Sea Clean services all EC BWTS manufacturers and variants, including annual instrument calibration, calibration certificates, diagnostics and spare-parts support. Sea Clean is an authorised Headway agent; other manufacturers are serviced independently.
Include the following with the email request: Fleet analyser register, vessel quantities, existing stock and planned delivery ports. Multiple vessels in the same area or along an efficient route can be assessed for shared mobilisation. Prices, component availability and attendance arrangements are stated in the quotation.

Frequently asked questions
Can an annual pack be divided across vessels?
Only where the supplied components, model compatibility, identification and handling allow a controlled allocation. Retain complete traceability and the applicable product instructions.
