Ordering CLX Reagents: A Label-Photo Identification Pack
Updated
Label photographs help resolve ambiguous reagent enquiries when they are paired with the analyser nameplate and purchasing history. A partial bottle image or familiar colour is not a reliable substitute for the complete product reference.

Key takeaways
- Complete reagent label images
- Analyser nameplate
- Opening/activation condition where relevant
- Agreed replacement reference and contents
Capture useful identification
Provide readable views of the product name, reference, component description and relevant validity information. Include the analyser nameplate separately. Avoid relying on handwritten store descriptions that may have been copied across different instruments or purchasing cycles.
Distinguish product from condition
A label identifies the supplied material; it does not establish whether it was activated, opened, contaminated or stored correctly. Record those conditions separately where they affect the enquiry. A request to identify a replacement is different from a technical decision about whether an existing bottle remains suitable for use.
Reconcile the proposed supply
Compare the offered reference and contents with the installed model and applicable documentation. Ask for clarification when a supplier proposes a different code or component arrangement. Retain the agreed reference in the vessel's future requisition so the same identification exercise need not be repeated at every order.
Illustrative procurement scenario
The vessel provides a partial label showing a generic chlorine description but no reference. A complete label image and analyser nameplate resolve whether the enquiry concerns the expected operating component. The supplier can then quote an identified item. The identification exercise does not establish whether the photographed material remains suitable after opening or storage.
Sea Clean service and quotation requirements
Sea Clean services all EC BWTS manufacturers and variants, including annual instrument calibration, calibration certificates, diagnostics and spare-parts support. Sea Clean is an authorised Headway agent; other manufacturers are serviced independently.
Include the following with the email request: Readable reagent labels, analyser nameplate, current stock condition and required quantity. Multiple vessels in the same area or along an efficient route can be assessed for shared mobilisation. Prices, component availability and attendance arrangements are stated in the quotation.

Frequently asked questions
Can bottle colour establish the correct reagent?
No. Use the full product reference, component identity and analyser documentation. Appearance alone cannot establish compatibility or condition.
