CLX Reagent Shipments: Safety Data and Delivery Documentation
Updated
Shipment documentation should identify the actual reagent components and their applicable handling requirements. A safety data sheet for a similarly named product or a different formulation is not an adequate substitute.

Key takeaways
- Component-specific product identification
- Matching current safety documentation
- Route and receiving requirements
- Package/order/document reconciliation
Match documents to supplied components
Identify each component in the ordered pack and the relevant current supplier documentation. Check product name, reference and formulation context. A kit may contain several materials, so one generic description should not conceal differences between buffer, indicator and activation components.
Coordinate route-specific requirements
Provide the delivery route, receiving country, agent and vessel. The responsible supplier and transport parties determine applicable documentation and handling for the actual shipment. Do not assume a regulatory transport classification from the words TRO reagent or from a competitor's product page.
Maintain receiving continuity
Ensure the receiving party can connect package labels, order references and safety information. Record missing or mismatched documents before use. Safety documentation supports handling; it does not prove analyser compatibility, reagent validity or completion of calibration.
Illustrative procurement scenario
The shipment contains several components, but the attached safety document identifies only one differently named product. The supplier reconciles the documents with the actual contents before dispatch or use. The transport and receiving parties then work from matching information. This does not replace the separate check that the reagent reference suits the installed analyser.
Sea Clean service and quotation requirements
Sea Clean services all EC BWTS manufacturers and variants, including annual instrument calibration, calibration certificates, diagnostics and spare-parts support. Sea Clean is an authorised Headway agent; other manufacturers are serviced independently.
Include the following with the email request: Required reagent references, component documents, delivery route and receiving requirements. Multiple vessels in the same area or along an efficient route can be assessed for shared mobilisation. Prices, component availability and attendance arrangements are stated in the quotation.

Frequently asked questions
Does an SDS establish that a reagent fits the analyser?
No. It supports product hazard and handling information. Compatibility must be established separately from the analyser and reagent specification.
