BWTS Service Attendance: Technician Boarding and Access Pack
Updated
The boarding pack connects the technical order to the vessel's actual access arrangements. It should identify the agent, terminal, joining instructions, equipment transport and permit responsibilities without exposing personal documents in general technical correspondence.

Key takeaways
- Agent and nominated vessel contact
- Current berth and joining instructions
- Tools, standards and transport documentation
- Permit responsibilities and change notifications
Separate logistics from technical scope
Provide vessel/IMO, berth or anchorage, arrival and departure windows, agent contact and the nominated onboard representative. Keep the current work order attached or referenced. A correct boarding arrangement does not establish which instruments or repair tasks have been authorised.
Plan equipment movement
Identify tools, standards, chemicals or replacement components requiring transport arrangements. The responsible supplier should provide applicable handling documentation. Restricted items, customs procedures or terminal requirements can affect mobilisation; these should be assessed for the actual route rather than covered by an unsupported worldwide attendance promise.
Control access changes
Name the party who communicates berth shifts and revised joining times. Exchange personal identification documents only through the agreed secure operational channel. Onboard work remains subject to vessel safety procedures and permits, even where the commercial order and visitor access have already been arranged.
Illustrative procurement scenario
The work order and technician travel are arranged, but replacement material is delivered to a shore warehouse rather than the berth. The boarding pack identifies the final delivery contact and the equipment needed for the first task. Resolving that interface before boarding avoids confusing personnel arrival with technical readiness. Visitor access alone would not solve the missing-material problem.
Sea Clean service and quotation requirements
Sea Clean services all EC BWTS manufacturers and variants, including annual instrument calibration, calibration certificates, diagnostics and spare-parts support. Sea Clean is an authorised Headway agent; other manufacturers are serviced independently.
Include the following with the email request: Attendance location, joining requirements, equipment transport needs and work-order reference. Multiple vessels in the same area or along an efficient route can be assessed for shared mobilisation. Prices, component availability and attendance arrangements are stated in the quotation.

Frequently asked questions
Does an approved visitor pass authorise equipment work?
No. Boarding access, commercial authorisation and task-specific vessel permits are separate requirements.
