Multi-Brand BWTS Fleets: Standardising Calibration Records
Updated
A fleet can use a common calibration-record index while retaining instrument-specific methods and results. Standardisation should improve retrieval and comparison without suggesting that different sensors share one universal procedure or tolerance.

Key takeaways
- Common identification and report fields
- Method/range/unit distinctions
- Original certificate retention
- Controlled corrections and fleet indexing
Standardise identifying fields
Use vessel/IMO, tag, manufacturer, model, serial, location and measurement function consistently. Include service date, provider and report reference. These fields support document control across manufacturers without changing the original technical content of a certificate.
Preserve technical differences
Retain method, range, units, reference identification, results, adjustments and limitations as recorded for each instrument. Different technologies may require different evidence. A common template should not force a switch test, analyser calibration and flow-measurement assessment into an identical numerical result field.
Maintain original records
Keep the issued certificate and a controlled fleet index linked together. Record corrections through the issuing party rather than editing original results. The common format is an administrative aid; it does not create OEM authorisation, accreditation or regulatory acceptance that the underlying service does not possess.
Illustrative procurement scenario
One fleet index covers a TRO analyser and a pressure switch. Both share vessel, tag and report-reference fields, but their technical results remain in the appropriate device-specific form. The common index helps retrieval without forcing switching observations into an analyser-style concentration table or implying that the same calibration method was used.
Sea Clean service and quotation requirements
Sea Clean services all EC BWTS manufacturers and variants, including annual instrument calibration, calibration certificates, diagnostics and spare-parts support. Sea Clean is an authorised Headway agent; other manufacturers are serviced independently.
Include the following with the email request: Fleet reporting template, instrument examples and required certificate-index fields. Multiple vessels in the same area or along an efficient route can be assessed for shared mobilisation. Prices, component availability and attendance arrangements are stated in the quotation.

Frequently asked questions
Can one template be used across different BWTS makers?
Yes, for consistent identification and document control, provided the actual method, results and limitations remain instrument-specific.
